‘Hey Kid,’ the older spirit asked the newcomer, ‘is this your first out of body experience?’

‘I don’t know what he is talking about.’ A disembodied voice spoke to itself in response. ‘It didn’t even sound like he was actually speaking either.’
‘That would be due to my mouth and tongue being attached to my physical body.’ The soundless voice emanated from an astral figure comprised of silvery light. ‘But as we can both see, I’m out of body at this moment.’
‘I can’t be out of my body and you can’t be out of your body unless we are dead.’
‘Wrong on both counts. But being dead does get you the unlimited access card. I’ve seen plenty of the spirits coming from dead bodies and you certainly have the astral traveler look and feel.’

‘Who are you?’ The new astral projecting spirit asked.
‘My name doesn’t matter. In fact I’d rather you didn’t know it. The name I use here in the astral realm is Oob. It stands for Out Of Body and that’s all I am right now.’
‘Why don’t you want me to know who you are?’
‘Because in my physical life, I’m rich and famous. More specifically, I’m rich and I’m only famous for my being rich. Should you return to earth prime from your current out of body experience, I don’t want you blabbing about my being here out of my body.’
‘Nobody there would believe my being here out of body, much less chatting with you out of body.’
‘Yes,’ Oob’s mental voice sounded sad, ‘they are awfully stupid about the astral nature of our spirits.’
‘Are you assigned to meet out of body souls here?’
‘Not formally. I’ve taken it on as a task in a futile hope of redeeming some of my many sins.’
‘If you’re doing good now, how can it be futile just because you’re out of your body?’
‘Because the wrong choice isn’t available to me here in the semi-death of the astral plane.’
